We’re sure you have questions.

Here are some answers to a few that we get asked often.

Will you steal my patient?

No, we promise not to recruit your patient to our animal hospital. We view this as an extension of your services where we can step in and help our community of pets stay healthy.

All diagnostic results will be sent to your office. You decide if you would like us to discuss results with pet parents or discuss the results with them yourself. We will make every attempt to return your client back to your facility.

If we see your patient for additional care beyond the referred service we will send you an additional $50.

How will my pet parents receive post procedure test results?

While completing your referral form, you will select how you would like diagnostics from procedure to be conveyed to pet parent.

The following options are available:

  • Our doctor develops treatment plan and  discusses results directly with pet parent.
  • Our doctor sends you a detailed report regarding treatment plan for you to review with pet parent. There is an additional cost for this service.
  • We send you the results for you to review, develop treatment plan, and discuss with pet parent. With this selection we will refer your pet parent to discuss ALL post procedure results with  you. There is a $25 discount for the selection.

How will I get results?

We will  fax or email results to your office.

Can my patient have pre-anesthetic testing (bloodwork, radiographies, urinalysis, ultrasound) at your facility?

Absolutely. While completing the patient referral form, you will select whether pre-anesthetic testing will be performed by you or us.

Depending on the type of procedure, we will contact you regarding  the specific type of pre-anesthetic testing that is needed.

We have a complete in-house laboratory for same day surgical testing if needed. Some tests may need to be completed prior to day of  surgery—we’ll let you know.

Results of pre-anesthetic test results performed at our facility will be reviewed by our doctor with pet parent.

Will a specialist perform the procedure?

No. Our doctors have received extensive training to perform each procedure we offer.

Dr. Ellie Scott oversees our LOVE Surgery Center and has over 20 years of surgical experience. She has a passion for successful surgical outcomes with well controlled pain and minimal post-op complications.

Our advanced techniques and equipment allow us to perform these procedures with shorter anesthetic time, faster recovery, decreased inflammation and discomfort.

What happens if a patient has a post-op complication?

While completing your referral form, you will select how you would like post procedure patient care follow up to occur.

The following options are available:

  • You provide all recheck care and follow up after the procedure. This includes suture removal, recheck testing if recommended, and post procedure complications. With this selection, we will refer your pet parent to your office if they contact us regarding post procedure questions and follow up. If your office is not available for care to the patient we will provide this care or refer to MedVet Worthington (in case of emergencies). If a pet parent voices they’re not able to obtain post procedure care at your facility, we will call your facility and verify this is, in fact, true. If we do not reach a doctor at your facility within 30 minutes of pet parent contacting us, we will proceed with care for the patient.

  • We provide all recheck care and follow up after the procedure. We may discuss with the pet parent additional tests, procedures or follow up that would be ongoing after the procedure. We will recommend the pet parent return to your facility for these services. We will not provide services outside the scope of standard care that would be provided  for a specific procedure. If the pet parent would like to pursue other services at our facility we will encourage them to return to you and send you $50 if they choose to use our facility.

What preventive care items must a patient have prior to having a procedure?

The minimum preventive care items for dogs are:

  • Complete blood Count, full chemistry panel including SDMA and GGT, Thyroid

All vaccines must be performed prior to 7 days (1 week) before procedure.
