When it comes to dogs, cats and kids sharing just comes naturally.  They share their toys, their beds, even their favorite snacks.  But pets and people can share other things as well, like disease.  Zoonotic diseases are illnesses that can be transmitted from animals to humans.

Experts say it's not unusual for some dogs and cats to experience dramatic health changes in a short amount of time.  The reason has to do with the rate at which pets age. By age 2 most pets have already reached adulthood.  By 4 many are entering middle age, and by 7 many pets are considered senior.
